From proposal to project: how PYROCO2 moved into reality
PYROCO2 has been featured in the first episode of the PNO Innovation Series, a podcast exploring what happens after a successful European proposal – and how projects transition from concept to real-world implementation.
The episode brings together Francesca Di Bartolomeo (SINTEF) and Anna Franciosini (PNO Innovation Italy), tracing the project’s origins while also providing insights into its current implementation phase.
PYROCO2 goes beyond laboratory validation, aiming to scale up its technology and demonstrate it in an industrially relevant environment. At its core, the project focuses on converting CO₂ from a waste stream into valuable molecules through an innovative combination of biotechnology and catalysis. The consortium is now advancing towards a large-scale demonstration, including the construction of a new laboratory at SINTEF and the development of 20 m³ reactors.
